Career Guidance

Staying Motivated During the Job Search

Remember that just because not a lot of companies aren’t hiring doesn’t mean no one is. Job hunting takes time, so here are some tips to keep you motivated and moving forward throughout your search:

Be Open to New Paths

Your skills likely apply to many industries and career paths. This is especially true as emerging technologies such as AI create new opportunities. Don’t silo yourself.

Set Realistic Goals

If you apply for 20 jobs in two weeks, odds are high you’ll hear back from someone. If you apply for one every few weeks, your response rate will be slimmer. Prepare for the best, but be aware of how your input affects output.

Rely on Your Network

Having good connections creates opportunities for you when you’re not even in the room. Now’s the time to reach out to old coworkers, professors, managers and other connections who can help get your name out there.

Stay Aware of Opportunities

Many agencies post jobs weekly – including us. Be sure to follow job boards, Linkedin pages, and more that make open opportunities well known and easily accessible.
